Extension Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 10, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Video Transcriber AI ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, protects, and shares information when you use the Video Transcriber AI browser extension (the "Extension").

This policy applies specifically to the Extension and the related services provided through videotranscriber.ai. By using the Extension, you acknowledge the data practices described below.

2. Information We Collect and Process

Account and authentication information

When you create an account or sign in, we may process your email address, display name, user identifier, basic profile information, authentication information, and subscription or account status. Authentication tokens may be stored in Chrome storage to keep you signed in. If you use Google sign-in, Google provides the account information that you authorize.

YouTube video and transcript information

When you use the Extension on YouTube, it may process the current video URL, video identifier, title, subtitle language, subtitle request URL, transcript or caption text, and related video metadata. This information is used only to provide the Extension's user-requested transcript, translation, note, summary, and question-answering features.

Content you provide

We process content that you choose to enter, create, or save through the Extension, including questions, custom prompts, notes, transcript edits, and related user-submitted content. Content saved to your account may be associated with your account so that you can access and manage it.

Preferences and local settings

The Extension stores settings such as language, theme, transcript mode, summary mode, display preferences, and feature status in Chrome storage so that your preferences can be restored.

Limited usage and diagnostic information

We may process limited technical and usage information, such as an installation identifier, signed-in user identifier, Extension version, installation time, event timestamps, feature interactions, login results, and error information. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Extension. We do not use browsing activity for advertising or unrelated profiling.

3. How We Use Information

We use information only as necessary to provide and support the Extension and its disclosed features, including to:

  • Authenticate users and maintain login sessions.
  • Retrieve, display, and process YouTube transcripts.
  • Provide translations, notes, summaries, and question-answering features requested by users.
  • Synchronize saved content and account preferences.
  • Manage usage limits, subscriptions, and account status.
  • Provide customer support and respond to user requests.
  • Detect errors, prevent abuse, and protect the security and reliability of the service.
  • Measure feature performance and improve the Extension.

We do not sell user data.

We do not use or transfer user data for personalized advertising, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to the Extension's disclosed user-facing features.

4. How Information Is Stored

Local browser storage

The Extension uses Chrome local or sync storage for authentication information, limited account information, preferences, an installation identifier, and temporary information needed to provide Extension features.

Service storage

Account information, content that you choose to save, usage records, and service-related data may be stored on systems operated for Video Transcriber AI when account-based or cloud features are used.

Removing the Extension stops future processing by the Extension and generally removes its local browser data, but it does not automatically delete information stored in your Video Transcriber AI account.

5. How We Share Information

We share information only when necessary to provide, secure, and maintain the Extension, including with service providers that process information on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.

When you choose Google sign-in, information is exchanged with Google to complete authentication. The Extension also interacts with YouTube to access the video and transcript resources required for its user-facing features.

We may disclose information when required by law, when necessary to protect users or the service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets subject to applicable safeguards.

We do not sell user data or publicly disclose authentication information.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Local preferences and authentication information are retained until you sign out, clear the Extension's browser data, or uninstall the Extension.

Notes, summaries, chat records, and other account content are deleted when you delete that content or your account. We do not retain those records after account deletion.

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information, contact us at [email protected] .

7. Data Security

We use HTTPS and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information during transmission and storage. Authentication information is handled only as needed to provide and maintain login functionality.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the information we process.

8. Your Choices and Rights

  • You may sign out to clear the active login session from the Extension.
  • You may clear Extension data through Chrome or uninstall the Extension.
  • You may delete saved content using available account features.
  • You may revoke Google account access through your Google Account settings.
  • You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of account information.

9. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

User data is used only to provide or improve the Extension's disclosed user-facing features and related security, support, and operational functions.

10. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed to children under the minimum age required by applicable law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
